Greetings Dearest Friends!!

Hello from Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria! So, I've arrived safely. My flight from Frankfurt got to Port Harcourt without any problems, until we were about to land... After we had descended, but just before touching down, we were told the runway had washed out, or there was a 'giant hole' in it, and we couldn't land. After circling around for awhile for some reason, we were diverted to Lagos, which is where I first breathed the dank air of the Niger river delta, and touched (concrete above) African soil.I began to get excited about spending the night in Lagos, Nigeria's biggest city, which my itinerary originally didn't include. I was excited to have some to have some unexpected adventure and a chance to experience Nigeria independantly before meeting my hosts. I began to make plans in my head about going to 'The Shrine', the night club started by Fela Kuti, the musician whose revolutionary music and politics are now so influential in the States, and hoped to see his son Femi, who is now in residence, perform.
